Supply Chain Network Redesign

LMS employs Insight's SAILS™, a best-of-class network redesign software, to perform Supply Chain Network Redesign Studies. These studies help us find safe ways to exceed customer commitments by utilizing the most productive workflow. Supply Chain Network Redesign Studies define the optimal supply chain network among your business sectors to minimize total logistics expenses, such as transportation, warehousing and inventory carrying costs, while maintaining your service levels. By analyzing current and potential manufacturing and distribution locations, we can optimize your warehouse / distribution network. In addition, LMS uses SAILS™ to analyze your business sectors to find, and take advantage of, possible synergies and consolidation opportunities.

Market Evaluation Studies

Market Evaluation Studies help LMS analyze traffic and carrier modes against current market price and standards. We do this through the Comparative Lane Analysis, which identifies transportation expenses against market value and optimizes warehouse and distribution processes. LMS uses these results to create solutions that save money and improve service to customers.

Freight Management/Load Control Centers

LMS excels at developing and maintaining on- and offsite load control centers that augment client operations while reducing transportation costs and delivering superior customer service. From these centers, LMS logisticians can manage a shipper's entire freight operations or complement existing transportation staffs.

LMS personnel are well versed in the technical and operational aspects of transportation management. Staff members use clients' existing technology, or LMS' Web-native TMS, TOTAL, to effectively manage shipping operations. We also offer freight optimization and Internet-based tracking and tracing programs. Most importantly, load control center personnel work in tandem with client management to ensure operational objectives are met.

Reverse Freight Auctions (TOTALBid)

Throw away your spreadsheets and forget everything you loathe about the carrier bidding process. LMS' bidding technology will change the way you solicit and analyze carrier bids so you can efficiently secure the most competitive rates the market will bear. TOTALBid is fast, easy, cost-effective and unlike any other bidding technology available today.

TOTALBid What is TOTALBid?
TOTALBid is an online transportation trading exchange that enables shippers to solicit and pragmatically evaluate carrier bid packages via the Internet. Unique to TOTALBid is a reverse auction methodology that assigns grades (A, B, C, D or F) to carriers throughout the bidding process. Grades are assigned based on how well carriers perform against a shipper's rate benchmarks, in addition to their ability to meet the shipper's service requirements. TOTALBid is suited for bids entailing any mode of transportation and accommodates multi-mode bid packages.

Secure the most competitive rates
Due to its efficient and flexible format, TOTALBid allows shippers to tender bids to a larger pool of providers without adding administrative time or delaying procurement. Additionally, its reverse auction methodology and unique grading system encourage bidders to modify their rates throughout the bid process. Expect your rates and service commitments to improve as multiple carriers vie for your business.

Reduce Procurement Time
TOTALBid standardizes, centralizes and organizes all bid information to facilitate intelligent and efficient analysis. Shippers immediately realize a return on investment (ROI) because TOTALBid dramatically reduces administrative work and limits the need for staff and other in-house resources. To complete a 50-lane freight bid, the average logistics professional would spend a total of 17.5 hours. However, to complete the same bid using TOTALBid, the average logistics professional would only need to devote a total of six hours.

TOTALBid offers the most competitive pricing structure in the market. Offered in an application service provider (ASP) format, TOTALBid does not require a long-term contract, a subscription or implementation fee. Use of this software is priced on a per-lane basis, which may include a nominal setup fee based on the size of the bid package.

Inbound Freight Management

LMS electronic routing guides help shippers tighten their grip on inbound spending. LMS also analyzes clients' inbound freight data to identify other opportunities for cost savings and service improvements. Additionally, we audit supplier compliance, develop trend analyses and establish procedures to ensure continuous process improvement.

Cross Dock Management Programs

LMS analyzes shippers' freight histories to uncover opportunities to achieve cost savings through cross docking. We can combine LTL (less than truckload) shipments across business units within a single corporation, or among LMS customers that have elected to consolidate freight with other companies. As with any LMS freight optimization program, we establish business upfront to ensure clients' competitive advantages are not compromised and core carriers are used whenever possible. Freight costs and savings are reported and distributed to participants via a ton/mile allocation. Additionally, LMS and its customers can track and trace shipments through the Internet.

Reverse Logistics

Your transportation needs may not end once your product reaches its destination. LMS offers reverse logistics services to provide shippers with exceptional service that comes full circle to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective product movement in the aftermarket space. We work with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), original design manufacturers (ODMs) and branded and retail companies to identify the best ways to manage their reverse logistics operations.

Continuous Move Routing

LMS uses continuous move routing to transform separate truckload shipments into ongoing "tours" that reduce one-way movements, empty miles and high-cost minimum charges. The result is improved asset utilization and more desirable and cost-effective routes for carriers, drivers, shippers and consignees. Additionally, linking a company's outbound and inbound traffic can further leverage backhaul and continuous move opportunities. LMS also offers continuous move routing in a multiple-shipper environment wherein participating shippers leverage their collective truckload movements to maximize financial and service benefits.

Proactive Freight Tracking & Tracing

Your end customers will appreciate LMS' proactive tracking & tracing services, which are designed to prevent shipping issues and maintain high service standards. LMS' transportation management system (TMS), TOTAL, provides an electronic means of tendering loads, receiving acceptance/decline responses and obtaining status information. This means TOTAL can be used to alert LMS staff to potential shipping problems. Through automated background processing, data messages are interpreted to determine whether a particular message, or absence of a message, should identify a load or shipment as a "hot situation". This "manage by exception" process allows our staff to proactively address potential customer satisfaction issues.

Freight Optimization

LMS analyzes your shipping data to determine which LMS optimization strategies - Best Practices will effectively cut your freight cost while maintaining or improving customer service levels. Each LMS Best Practice targets one or more motor carrier market segments, i.e. small mark LTL, full capacity TL, etc. By employing a portfolio of Best Practices, we can significantly reduce your overall freight spend.

A component of our proprietary TMS, TOTAL, TOTALOptimization combines Web-native technology with LMS Best Practices to optimize shipments and create daily ship plans. This program accepts manual and/or electronic client orders and, like all TOTAL components, easily integrates into existing TMS/ERP systems.

LMS also offers freight collaboration programs to maximize optimization opportunities by leveraging the collective freight activities of multiple shippers.

Freight Collaboration

By leveraging the collective freight activities of LMS' high-volume clients, individual shippers can significantly reduce transportation costs. LMS offers two types of multi-shipper collaboration programs:

To facilitate collaboration, LMS runs participating shippers' data through TOTALOptimization and TOTALCM to identify co-loading and/or continuous move opportunities. TOTAL is programmed with freight compatibility and service parameters to ensure loads are matched safely and according to each company's specifications. Once loads are matched and routes are configured, LMS generates a ship plan for review. Once the plan has been approved, LMS transportation planners tender the shipments and work with carriers to ensure proper execution.

LMS determines cost savings using agreed-upon benchmarks set forth by all participating shippers. LMS then distributes savings according to a class-adjusted ton/mileage formula, which takes into consideration each company's freight weight, product classification and miles shipped. As a third party facilitator, LMS ensures savings are allocated appropriately and proprietary shipping data remains confidential. Shippers' online visibility is password protected and limited to their respective freight data.

Taking advantage of collaborative shipping opportunities can be the difference between meeting and exceeding cost and service goals. LMS' collaboration technology and processes have enabled shippers to transcend their own operations and achieve performance levels that were seemingly unobtainable. Additionally, collaboration has proven to be a timely strategy for meeting capacity and cost challenges.
